What is the Pharmancy Technician Test?
The Pharmacy technician test is conducted to get an idea of the candidate’s knowledge about various drugs so that he can assist the patients accordingly and tell them about the effects of a particular drug on their health. It is also done to evaluate the applicant about his awareness on different ailments. He is required to take care of the patients with warmth and should be compassionate to their needs as and when required.
Pharmacy Technician certification Board (PTCB) prepares this test and the candidates are judged on a standard scale developed to check their knowledge. The test materials are prepared by a highly qualified panel of educators from various institutes of pharmacy and have complete knowledge about Pharmacy.
Parts of the Pharmacy Technician Test
The Pharmacy technician test is a three hour long test where one has to answer the questionnaire of 140 questions. Out of which 125 are multiple choice questions and 15 non scored pre-test questions that are useful for future analysis of a candidate. It is very important that a candidate answers all questions because the marks would be calculated on the basis of maximum questions answered correctly.
Once you clear the test, you are classified as a certified Pharmacy Technician but remember that you have not conquered the big fight of getting the degree of a Pharmacist yet. You still need to hold and maintain your certification by sitting for a 20 hour long session for the revalidation of your certificate within two years from the issue of your original certificate. This certification needs to be reissued every two years. The idea behind this Pharmacy technician test is to provide an update of new medicines in the market every day.
